Pattonville senior Samantha Callahan just recently contributed to the girls’ basketball conference championship win on Feb. 16. She also helped the basketball team advance to the district championship game against the No. 1 ranked team in the St. Louis area, Incarnate Word. While Callahan does enjoy basketball, her heart lies primarily on the volleyball court.
Callahan said, “It felt really good beating Central and winning the conference championship. That was one of our main goals as a team, and I am glad we could accomplish it this year.”
She was named first team all-conference for volleyball this past fall. Along with basketball and volleyball, Callahan is also involved in soccer. When she is not refining her skills on the court or on the field, Callahan is learning the new experiences that go along with being a mother.
She said, “After having Landon, I had to focus on getting back in shape. The biggest thing I had to get used to was managing my time and planning accordingly.”
Callahan spends most of her time performing a balancing act between school, sports, work and her rambunctious 1-year-old. For her, life has changed drastically over the past couple of years, but fortunately she still has athletics to count on.
Since she also stays on top of her academics, having earned a 3.6 GPA this past semester, Callahan is planning for college next fall. Callahan is trying to figure out her options for playing volleyball at the next level. Her first choice is to attend Maryville University.
