Tornado in Branson hits close to home

On Feb. 29, Branson, Mo., was hit with an EF-2 tornado. It suffered damage all throughout the historic town, but the well-known Silver Dollar City amusement park received no damage from the tornado.

The tornado had winds of up to 130 miles an hour. A total of 32 people were injured during this tornado but no reports of casualties have been made. The injured were taken to and treated at the city’s hospital.

The tornado went through restaurants, shops and theatres in downtown Branson on the historic strip. Cleanup began right away to restore the town before the peak of their tourist season in a couple of weeks.

With the one-year anniversary of the Good Friday tornado coming up, tornado season is starting. After almost a year, the cleanup and rebuilding is still going on around the Pattonville community. The Good Friday tornado was an EF-4 and went across the St. Louis area hitting local neighborhoods and the airport.
