Right now, the stage is black with nothing being performed. The chairs are empty and nobody is inside. Nobody is taking tickets to see a show.
But on Feb. 11-14, 2016, that will all change with the high school production of Cinderella.
The auditorium is a staple of Pattonville and was constructed in February 1988 and it has held school meetings, talent shows, Veterans Day celebrations, and of course, high school musicals and plays.
Musicals and plays have been performed in the auditorium since it first opened and has a strong history even before that.
Ms. Lara Corvera is the current theatre director and has taken the role of creating the shows every year.
“I came here in 2002,” Corvera said. “Since then, I’ve done 14 plays and 13 musicals.”
This year’s musical is Cinderella which will mark her 24th production to date. After doing this for 14 years, her passion has not died out.
“I still love doing it and hope to keep doing it,” Corvera said.
