Spirit teams announce new members after tryouts

Pattonville High School drill team and cheerleading tryouts were held over the past two weeks and the numbers corresponding to the students making the team were posted on the window under the bridge.

Cheerleader Madison Utley said that students interested in joining the Pattonville High School cheer team need to know basic gymnastic stunts like run-off hand tucks, and back tucks in order to make the varsity team.

“I think if freshmen are interested in making varsity, they will probably have to have those skills,” Utley said. “I’m pretty sure two freshman already have that now.”

Utley said that after tryouts end and teams are chosen, the cheer team will begin practicing on their new regional routines for the summer.

“Once we have our team chosen, we will start working on our regional routine which is performed in the summer,” Utley said. “We will work on it from now until the summer and then we compete at regionals.”

The junior varsity and varsity cheerleading teams were announced under the bridge at the end of school on Friday, April 15.
