Varsity Volleyball Team takes first conference win of the season

Led by Megan Reese’s 12 aces in the third game, varsity volleyball wins its first match of the season.

Strong serving by sophomore Megan Reese led Pattonville varsity girls’ volleyball to its first win of the season.

With 12 aces in the third game, Reese’s effort propelled the Pirates to a win over conference rival Parkway North.

“It felt totally great getting 12 aces in the game. I was very proud,” Reese said. “I’m so happy that I get to say that I did that.”

Reese is now tied for third in Missouri volleyball history for the amount of overall aces served in a single high school volleyball game. She is very proud of this accomplishment and said she hopes to get even more aces in a game before the end of the season.

She added that she is very proud of her performance and is always striving to become a better player.

Not only are the girls celebrating Reese’s accomplishment, but also the fact that this was their first conference win; a win against long-time rival, Parkway North Vikings. The victory was the first of the season, improving their record to 1-4.

“It felt great to beat Parkway North,” Reese said. “We haven’t beaten them in so long and so it meant so much to finally be able to say that we beat them.”

The team has high hopes for the rest of the season and is looking forward to its next game on Monday, Sept. 12 when the Pirates play host to Incarnate Word. It is also the girls’ volleyball Renaissance teacher game.
