Ceramics: Another form of Art

One of the many art classes Pattonville offers is Ceramics, which is the art of making things with clay. The class is taught by Mr. Scott Fader in the G wing during  Hours 2, 3, and 6.

“Right now we have to make tea bowls,” said sophomore Jake Wichlan. “They are kind of like tea cups.”

The students are given a project and personalize it in their own unique way.

“My tea bowl has my boyfriend’s name on it,” said freshman Kayla Holley.

Other students use their personalized projects as a way to describe themselves.

“My project represents drawing, and I want to show it with a big thing of artwork,” said senior Teahna Banks.

Some students, such as Holley and Wichlan, take this class because they enjoy building things. Others take it because it means something to them.

“I like art,” said Banks. “It’s inspiring, and I want to be an art teacher.”

Some students find the class exciting and would recommend this class to other students.

“If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, you should take ceramics,” said Banks.
