The Pattonville National Honor Society program has began a fundraising opportunity to raise money for cancer patients. This week during 6th hour, students in NHS will be collecting spare change from all classes.
“We will be coming around on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week to collect money,” Josh White, a NHS member, said.
Approximately every 3 minutes, one person in the United States is diagnosed with Leukemia.
As of Tuesday, students and staff have raised over $500 and are halfway to the goal of $1,000 raised.
So far, the Top 5 classes are:
- Mr. Schamber, $2.65 per student
- Ms. Olson, $2.07 per student
- Mr. Fader, $1.62 per student
- Ms. Adam, $1.47 per student
- Ms. Gordson, $1.40 per student
At the end of the week, all of the money collected goes directly to the research for a cure for Leukemia.
Pattonville has set a goal of $1,000, and all of the money donated will remain in St. Louis to help fund the research of various blood cancers. The money will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society St. Louis chapter.
Not only will donating help fund the search for a cure, but the class with the most money per student will win a free pasta party from Olive Garden.
