The Skills of Band

The Skills of Band

Art is one of the main ways people express themselves. The definition of art could be from playing an instrument in band or orchestra, to being in theatre, or actually drawing. Pattonville has major talent roaming its halls.

Not many people venture beneath the auditorium, where the band room is.

Band is full of very talented people. Kelley Myers is one of those people, she is a senior that plays the marimba.

“It was close to the piano and used actual notes,” Myers said.

She was inspired to join band because both her parents were in band.

Myers has been playing in band since she was in 5th grade. Playing an instrument requires concentration, skill, and creates an eager mind. Staying with an instrument all thoughout middle school, and high school poses many challenges, but the reward of actually sticking with something is an amazing feeling.

According to Myers, band had just had a concert on March 28 and was working on the Lion King.

Band is just one of the many classes Pattonville offers in the area of the arts. All students are required to have one credit in fine arts to graduate.
