Pattonville hosted a dance for the SSD students from Pattonville, Parkway North, and Hazelwood West. This “Night to Shine” was an activities night put together by the student councils at the three schools to give the students an enjoyable night out.

“It was a fun night that involved dancing, games, crafts, and selfie stations,” Student Council officer Roma Patel said.

After the months of preparation, and a few setbacks along the way, Patel felt that the event on Feb. 3 was very successful.

“It went really well, Patel said. “Prep took a lot of time and there were a lot of bumps in the road, but we got through it and couldn’t have done it without the help of the other two schools.”

The gym was originally scheduled as the location for the dance, but the floor was being re-waxed and nobody was able to walk on it, and the dance had to be relocated to the available space in the cafeteria.

Another thing that caused disruption to the event was that the main water line to the high school was shut down after school on Friday after a leak flooded the Student Council storage room, destroying some of the decorations. It was unclear immediately when the water would be turned back on, and the students had to work around this problem.

SSD student Adam Burke stated he had a great time with his friends.

“My favorite part was dancing,” he added.

By the end of the night, Patel said she knew everyone had a blast.

“All of the hard work was worth it after seeing their faces.”
