Educators attending the METC Conference had speaker Hall Davidson as the featured speaker at Tuesday’s Leadership Luncheon. Davidson is a educational leader in the field of virtual learning environments.

The keynote presentation was titled “Transformation and Technology, Leadership & Choice” and was centered around transformation and what it really means for education.

The theme he stated was for teachers to “Emerge, Evolve, Elevate, Educate.”

Davidson has explored different aspects and statistics on how new technological learning strategies have helped educators.

“Technology can change the way we are teaching subjects,” Davidson said. “There are students struggling in math and there is a device in their pockets that can give them the answers.”

Not only can technology help pave the way to overall better attendance in schools, but it can unite students.

“It’s all about engagement,” Davidson said. “Referrals would go down because students would be more interested in being in the classroom than out of the classroom.”

Teacher attendance could also be affected by this use of technology.

From a study conducted in the 2013-2014 school year, it was proven that the teacher attendance rate went up 35 percent.

“Engaged teachers are effective teachers.”
