As a way to end their final year of high school, the senior class held a class barbecue at Gentry Park on May 18. The picnic was completely organized by the students.

“We hosted an all-class barbecue on the last day of school in 2016, and it was a huge success,” senior Micah Giancola said. “This year, we decided to go bigger and invite even more people.”

Roughly a third of the class attended and enjoyed burgers and hot dogs, played numerous picnic games and slid down a makeshift slip-n-slide.

“We put together this awesome slip-n-slide using a few big tarps, a hose, and some soap,” senior Amanda Faust said. “It was awesome going down it, but I definitely got some bruises all over my back.”

The senior class had been planning this barbecue for the past month, and it was an opportunity for everyone to have a good time with the rest of their class.

“I’m glad that I could see a lot of those people again all together before we start to go our separate ways,” Faust said. “It really is a bittersweet way to end the year.”

Seniors will now look forward to this week’s graduation ceremony which will be held on May 25.

“It is almost time for us all to be done with high school,” Faust said, “and I’m glad I could spend it with the people that I did.”
