Meet new teacher: Ms. Marcia Mueller

Every student in the Pattonville School District starts at an elementary school, then moves up to a middle school and finally enters the high school.

Ms. Marcia Mueller, a new art teacher at the high school, has followed the same path beginning in 2002.

“I taught students at Briar Crest for three years and Remington Traditional for 12,” Mueller said. “Now I’m teaching here.”

Her high school experience motivated her to become a teacher.

“I had several teachers who were so important in my life. I continued to check in with them through college and beyond,” she said. “They made learning fun and encouraged me to continue with my interest in the fine arts. I still run into them every once in a while, but they are all retired now.”

Mueller said that she went to Illinois State University (ISU) where she received her photography degree and a degree in K-12 Art Education. She attended Webster University for her MAT, and then Truman State University.

“I think it’s important to continue my education and be a lifelong learner.”

She said that she always wanted to teach high school students because she is able to get more in-depth with concepts and conversations.

A few things that stood out to Mueller about the district was how everyone looks out for each other.

“The family atmosphere was apparent when I started at Pattonville,” she said. “Also, the students take pride in being a part of the district.”
