Teachers were as excited learning about the eclipse as students

Teachers at Pattonville took their students outside on Aug. 21 to see the solar eclipse during 7th hour. Even teachers that didn’t have a class took the advantage to capture the event.

“It was truly amazing,” Ms. Margaret Gender said.

She did not have a class 7th hour, but she enjoyed seeing the eclipse as she sat on the bleachers looking up at the sky that was almost dark.

Although she was disappointed in the fact that Maryland Heights was not in the path of totality, she said enjoyed the afternoon when she heard the cicadas begin to make noise, s

“It almost felt like it was actually night time.”

Ms. Marcia Mueller echoed Gender’s thoughts about the eclipse and said she her daughter’s school got to see full totality of the eclipse and was disappointed to find out that Pattonville did not get full totality.

Though he considered the event great, Mr. Ken Lopinot said students only had one complaint when he took his class to a spot between the D-wing and the G-wing.

“They complained of the heat and the bugs,” Lopinot said. “But overall, it was awesome.”
