Senior Fall Athletes Created United Front with Banner

September 12, 2017

The marching band walks in front of the senior athletes banner that hangs at the football stadium during games.

The Varsity Drill Team united fall senior athletes in order to create the senior sports banner displayed at the football stadium.

Drill team coach Ms. Katie Funderburk said the drill team officers came up with the idea at their officers training.

“We wanted to promote support throughout programs, and thought that a picture would be a great way to kick off the fall season.”

Senior softball player Katie Basta loved the idea.

“Sometimes I forget about some of the other sports, so it was cool to all come together.”

Basta said the event was a great reminder of all of the friends she has playing fall sports.

The picture was taken twice since the first time it was taken, some sports were not in attendance. It was important to the Drill Team that everyone was involved in the picture.

Many athletes that compete during the winter and spring are hoping to see another poster when their season rolls around.

“I thought it was a really cool idea to honor our senior athletes,” said high school activities director Mr. Bob Hebrank. “It allowed people to see and recognize our seniors even if they did not attend the games.”
