It was a rough season for the girls’ volleyball team but the athletes are looking past it and beginning to focus on districts. They will play Parkway Central in the opening round of the Class 4 District 6 tournament on Oct. 17

With a current record of 10-14-2, their record doesn’t reflect the attitude of the team.

Junior Megan Reese looks at the season as having missed some opportunities.

“I thought we were going to come into the season hot and come out winning a lot of our games but we hit a few rough patches and haven’t been clicking like we should of been but we just need to start focusing on the games we still have left.”

The girls team is beginning to work better together and Keeley Peters said they are starting to look more like a team rather than playing as individuals.

“I’ve been working on playing better with the team and being more supportive and making sure everyone feels good and happy during the games even when they make a mistake,” Peters said. “I just make sure people try and push through it.”

Middle blocker Natalie Wildberger said the past three games have been really tough for the Pirates but they are going to practice hard and work game-to-game just to get ready for the postseason.

The district tournament will be played at Parkway Central Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
