Pattonville will be holding a social justice training meeting for students Oct. 3-4 in B104 and in the auditorium. There will be two morning sessions between 8-10:30 am. This will be a small group discussion amongst students and counselors about unity at Pattonville High School.

Students selected to participate received a permission form that said: “The purpose of these crucial dialogues is to give students a voice as we work to create a greater sense of unity among our students.”

High school counselor Ms. Alysia Patterson is sponsoring the program with assistant principal Mr. Gene Grimshaw.

“The goal of this meeting is to give our students an opportunity to have a constructive and healthy dialogue as well as encouraging them to move away from social media,” Patterson said.

Students will be given an opportunity to express their feelings about local issues going on at Pattonville in a positive way.

“We want them to be able to communicate with one another face-to-face,” Patterson said.

According to the permission form given to all participants, “This is an incredible opportunity for students to develop and practice critical skills in communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, advocacy, and empathy.”

Pattonville is trying to take the steps to make the school more connected.

“We’re trying to foster a sense of respect at Pattonville High School to be unified,” Patterson said.
