The Acting World Of Art

Many students enjoy the clubs and classes related to arts that exist in many forms of art. Theatre is just one of them.

Theatre relates art to the musical and acting world. One student, senior Alantae McLemore is currently in theatre. She simply described the activities that go on in theatre.

“We dance, we sing, we act, learn scripts,” she said. McLemore also said that she sings with music playing “if it’s a musical.”

Although singing is not involved in plays, they still sing for fun. “It’s not a play, it’s just acting,” McLemore later mentioned.

Like many other activities at Pattonville, theatre has its ups and downs. McLemore said she likes it because “you get to express yourself, you meet new friends, you make a family with people in it.” She also tells what she doesn’t like about it. “The rehearsals, they’re just long,” she said, describing the long scripts that are very common in music related activities.

McLemore gives simple advice to students who are considering theatre as a future activity to enjoy. “Just be yourself”, she said, to remind other students to not let the acting and singing in theatre make them feel like someone else.
