Hat Day on Nov. 21 to benefit #Rally4Ryleigh

Starting on Nov. 16, students will be able to donate $1 or more in order to wear a hat on Tuesday, Nov. 21, and to support Ryleigh’s wish.

Last year, the high school began the Pattonville United initiative in an effort to bring all Pattonville schools together for a common cause. This year, the district will be joining forces to help Ryleigh, a young girl with an inoperable brain tumor, get to Disney World through the Make a Wish Foundation.

During homecoming week, the high school held a Penny War competition between classes to raise money for the 5-year-old. At the football game on Friday night, the cheerleaders carried buckets around the stands for fans to donate money into in what is called the Miracle Minute. All of the money raised allows Ryleigh’s wish to go to Disney World come true.

Senior Nadia Maddex is one of the participants who helped bring the fundraiser to the school. She said the goal of raising $5,000 is almost made.

“We have about $1,500 so far and we hope to raise the rest of the money throughout the year,” Maddex said.

The upcoming dodgeball tournament on Nov. 17 will also benefit #Rally4Ryleigh.

“The admissions fees will also be given to the Make-A-Wish fund.”
