Pattonville goes head-to-head against Parkway North in swim meet

Swimmers took their mark for the last regular season swim meet of the season on Tuesday against Parkway North. The Vikings won the meet, but a technical difficulty left the athletes high and dry for a few minutes.

During the third event, the speakers started to glitch. It sounded like the cords of the speaker had a mind of their  own. It would cut off and then just beep repetitively like it was something out of a scary film.

The two meet officials and a boy from Parkway North took more than 5 minutes to try to fix this speaker. Even though it was annoying that there was high-pitched beeping, it was also fun because no one had seen anything like this and there was time to waste.

Bridget Hogan, a junor on the Pattonville swim team said, “This is the funnest swim meet I’ve ever been to.”

Pattonville had met their match as both teams had been swimming seconds away from each other on almost every event in the swim meet.

In the diving portion of the competition, the Pirates’ Sam Reynolds won the event topping the other Pattonville and Parkway North divers.

This was the first meet since Richa Boara broke the school record in the backstroke and teammates were laughing and cheer each other on to beat their previous times from other meets.

Since the first day of swim practice, these girls have been working their tails off and it all comes down to the final meet of the season. The Conference Championship Meet will be next week on Feb. 6-7 at Rockwood Summit.
