Bonté commits to play volleyball at Lewis University

Auston Bonté has been named Suburban XII Conference MVP, 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-State, 2nd Team All-Metro, Fox 2 Player of the Week, AVCA National Midwest Player of the Week, and also holds the Pattonville boys’ volleyball record for the most kills in a game.

And he’s just starting his senior season.

Bonté has proven himself as an exceptional student and athlete at Pattonville, and he will further his academic and volleyball career at Lewis University next year.

“Lewis is just a great school and has an extremely good volleyball program being they are a Top 10 D1 program,” he said. “The coaching staff is amazing and I know a few people planning to attend the school also.”

The Pattonville volleyball program has been home for Bonté since his freshman year. Lewis University has similar characteristics that will make a home away from home more enjoyable.

“The environment is pretty similar to Pattonville’s I’d say. It is not a gigantic school being it is a private university.”

Although Bonté has committed to Lewis, it was not his only choice to continue his volleyball career.

“My other choices were Lindenwood St. Charles, Fontbonne, Charlotte University in North Carolina, North-Central and a few others I can’t think of.”

The varsity volleyball captain forward to his college life but will live in the moment as the Pirates begin their season.

“Being committed doesn’t really change my expectations of this year’s season,” Bonté said. “We’re already looking like a very strong team and are very likely to be as good or better than last year’s team.”
