The 2018 Prom Court was announced last week and the members of it are reacting to their nomination and selection. Court members are nominated by teachers at the high school and then voted on by the students. The winners will be crowned at Prom on May 4.

Senior William Pirrie was excited that he was selected by his peers to be on Prom Court.

“I never could’ve guessed they would pick me,” he said. “Honestly, I was super surprised because I didn’t think people even knew me.”

Isabel DiSalvo who is involved in Varsity Drill Team, Rho Kappa, Renaissance, Educators Rising, NHS, and orchestra, was pleased to know that her peers voted her onto court.

“I think it would be exciting to win, but I’m just really honored to be voted on Prom Court,” DiSalvo said.

Madison Blair was a member of Prom Court last year as a junior, but she said it’s much different for her this time. Last year, she worried about what people thought and almost took herself off because of what people were saying.

“I care less this year about what people think,” she said. “Being on court is an awesome thing and it’s supposed to be for fun, so I’m excited this year.”

Blair said that waking up earlier and getting ready each day is stressful but worth it. She is excited for the memories she will be making this year with other members of court and her friends.

“I realized that teachers nominated you for the type of person you are and the kindness of your heart, so although there were people hating, there were also people who supported me.”

Pirrie is hoping to put the cherry on top of his high school experience.

“I’d probably cry if I won prom king because that would be so awesome,” he said, “but I’d channel my inner manliness and suck in the tears so nobody would see.”
