Five students selected to All-Suburban Orchestra, two picked as alternates

Pattonville orchestra had 29 students participate in the annual St. Louis Suburban Music Educator’s Association audition for the All-Suburban Orchestra. The Pirates had five students win seats and two were selected as alternate players.

  • Natalie Young – Won seats in both the 1st Violin and Viola sections, but opted to play Violin this year
  • Jade Boyd – 2nd Violin
  • Nathan Moser – Viola
  • Abby Surlet – Principal Bass
  • Lacey Harder – Bass
  • Will Skaggs – Bass, 1st Alternate
  • DJ Smith – Bass, 2nd Alternate

These students will now have four rehearsals before they perform on Saturday, Jan. 5, at Ritenour High School (weather permitting).

Coming up next are the Missouri All-State Auditions held in Columbia, Missouri, on Dec. 1.

The high school orchestra will also host a chili cook-off and music fundraiser with Parkway West on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at Pattonville.

The meal is $10 ($15 after Nov. 13) and includes samples of all available chili. Hot dogs, chips and cookies will be available a la carte.
