Pattonville boys’ basketball loses third straight game

The Pirate boys’ are on another slump this season losing three games in a row and worsening their record to 8-13 on the season.

Pattonville boys’ basketball went toe-to-toe with the McCluer Comets (14-6) on Thursday night but lost 80-68.

The Pirates will play three more away games before ending the regular season at home against the McCluer North Stars who are currently 18-3 this season.

The Pirates lead at halftime 29-26 but were outscored in the third quarter, 28-16. Pattonville battled back in the fourth but it just wasn’t quite enough to push them to the win.

Pattonville was led by freshman guard Kellan Thames who had 18 points Thursday night. Right behind Thames was sophomore guard Alijah Carter with 17 points on the night. Carter fouled out for his third game in a row.

Julius Erby did not have a strong presence offensively scoring only 7 points but he contributed in other ways such as collecting 8 rebounds and making 3 blocks.

McCluer was able to poke away at the Pirates’ lead in the third quarter behind Dennis Keyes’ 23 points and 4 rebounds. The Comets had three other players scoring in the double-digits including Dareon Graham (16), Richuan Purtty (12) and Demerius Richmond (10).
