Asiah Allen is a captain on the first ever Pattonville field hockey team.
“[My favorite part is] being able to play with teammates, scoring, trying new things, and the atmosphere of making perfect passes & receiving perfectly,” Allen said. “There really isn’t a best player on the team, and every girl pulls her own weight.”
Her favorite drill to do during practice is a 1 vs. 1 drill which is one offensive player and one defender, and the offensive player tries to get a goal.
“My favorite move is a left pull which is when you take the ball, fake as though you’re going right and pull the ball left,” Allen said.
What pumps her up before games is listening to music, talking and laughing with teammates.
When asked what her coach does to inspire her she said, “She tells us to close our eyeballs, and visualize us getting goals. She also gives us good pep-talks.”
Playing on the first ever Pattonville field hockey team is “really exciting [because] we’re a part of history, and it’s fun.”
