On Monday, Oct. 29, a large hurricane shook the people of the east coast.

Dubbed Hurricane Sandy, the storm hit home on the southern side of New Jersey at around 8 p.m Monday night, taking out houses and flooding city and residential areas. About 8 million people are currently without power in the states that have been affected by the storm.

Hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated from the coastal communities of the east coast even before the storm actually hit. Officials had been warned that there was a huge storm headed their way, and they decided to act as early as possible to save lives.

The storm cascaded so much that now people in Chicago are being warned to be cautious about Lake Michigan. They are expecting that fast winds and huge waves are coming their way from Hurricane Sandy.

Sandy began her rampage in the Caribbean last week, killing around 67 lives just in Haiti. Seventeen people have been reported dead in the affected areas on the east coast, with possibly more to come.

With the constant updates that have been coming in since the storm began, it can be concluded that Sandy is going to be sticking around a while longer, with the remains of the storm expected to turn into a “superstorm.”
