A Tip of Advice From Ms. Mulanax

DSC00530It’s time to register for your AP Exams. Registration is online at:

www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/262575

The link is also on the high school website. The registration is open from 2/25/2013 through 3/7/2013. Follow all registration instructions and bring a printout of your registration and payment to Ms. Caimi in the Counseling Office.

Ms. Mulanax is an AP Physics and Physics I teacher. She has been teaching at Pattonville for 12 years. Mulanax’s favorite thing about Physics is that there is always something new to learn. She attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology. As a high school student, she liked physics and assumed you would study physics to be an engineer. A few weeks after attending school in Rolla, she discovered that she hated engineering and therefore just stayed in physics.

Mayte Santos: What are your top three tips?

Ms. Mulanax: “First, start memorizing things early. Don’t wait until the week before. Second, get a good night rest the night before. Third, put everything you will need out the night before in a bag.”

MS: Do you have any tips for multiple choice?

Ms. M: “There is nothing on the test that you haven’t seen before. People will look at the questions and freak out, just breathe and relax. There’s nothing you don’t know. Never leave one blank.”

MS: How would you keep track on time?

Ms. M: “Always answer all the questions that you know quickly. Then go back to answer the ones you skipped.”

MS: Do you have any tips for studying?

Ms. M: “Most importantly, start memorizing early. Do lots of practice tests. The more you practice the better you are at recognizing your own weaknesses.”

MS: Are there any common mistakes students should watch out for?

Ms. M: “In free response, students tend to forget units. And students should make sure they answer the question that is actually asked.”

MS: Any last advice?

Ms. M: “Eat something for breakfast and lunch. You don’t want to be starving to death while taking the test.”
