Hockey Cheerleading Competition

On Sunday, Feb. 12, the Varsity Hockey Cheerleaders went to their annual competition sponsored by MSCHCA at Fort Zumwalt East.

Pattonville placed first place for their chant and second place for their cheer.

“It was really fun. We got to meet all kinds of Hockey Cheerleaders from all over St. Louis. Everyone was really nice and it was a good experience,” Sierra Hartley, 12. “I was really nervous when we got on but when we got off, it was the best feeling ever.”

This is Hartley’s first year on the squad, along with senior Maria Vaughn and freshman Mikayla Aggugelo.

The other girls on the squad are senior and captain Leann Buchheit and junior and co-captain Becca Buchheit. Leann Buccheit’s on the squad for her third year and Becca Buccheit is on for her second.

“At first, the practices leading up to competition were really stressful because our coach wanted to do something when we wanted to do something else,” Hartley said.

Pattonville competed against CBC, Eureka, Francis Howell Central, Francis Howell North, Kirkwood, Parkway South, Saint Mary’s, Wentzville, Timberland, Duschene, Fort Zumwalt North, Fort Zumwalt West, Lindbergh, Mehlville, Oakville, Parkway West, SLUH and Vianney.

“When we found out we won, I screamed my head off,” Becca Buchheit said. “It was so exciting.”
