This is Ms. Emily McDaniel’s first year teaching at Pattonville High School but it’s not her first time here. She graduated from Pattonville in 2009, and last year, she was a student teacher for Mrs. Amy Adam.

I sat down with McDaniel to ask her some questions so that the students, and even teachers, can know a little more about her.

Q: How does it feel teaching at the same school you graduated from?

A: “It’s been really great.” McDaniel said coming back to Pattonville instead of going to a brand new school allows her to know where things are.

Q: What high school teachers were here when you were a student?

A: “The English teachers that are still here are Ms. Brown, Ms. Adam, Ms. Moritz, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Hahn and Mr. Lopinot.” Brown is now McDaniel’s mentor.

Q: Do you feel comfortable calling your old teachers by their first names?

A: “NO! Certain teachers I just can’t break what I call them”

Q: Were you in any clubs when you were a student?

A: “Yes, I was in NHS, ECHO (yearbook), tennis and soccer.”

Q: We looked in your old yearbook and saw that you were ‘Best Friends Forever’ with Ariel Boulicault and Tomi Benney. Are you still friends with Ariel and Tomi?

A: “Uh huh, I am. I talk to them every day still.”

McDaniel added that she is coaching tennis and wants students to remember that what you do in high school really affects what happens later on in life.
