Getting involved and getting work done

2013-08-23_17-38-11School has started and many students have already gotten involved with this season’s sports.

Ross Reynolds, a freshman on the freshman football team, is hoping for a position as a cornerback. He joined the team because he thought it would be great to get more involved and felt like he would be good at this sport. This is his second year playing because last year he played on the 8th grade team for Pattonville.

“In eighth grade, there were fewer practices and there was more time to get homework done,” Reynolds said.

However, being on the freshman team is much more difficult for Reynolds because practice is so long; it cuts down on social time, and especially cuts down on time for school work.

When asked if he has a routine worked out to have practice and get everything done, he replied, “No, I don’t. I do it if I have time to get it done.”

He is glad to be on the team, but wishes for more time to do homework and relax.

The first freshman game is Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. at Kirkwood, and Reynolds is confident that this season will be a good one.

He thinks that the team cares more and that the team has a lot more players than last year, which is why the season will be a good one. His goal is to become a lot better at his position of cornerback. Although this team is a lot tougher than the middle school team, he really enjoys playing football and has made many new friends by being on the team.

Reynolds’ advice to those who want to join any sports or play football in the future is to know your priorities and be sure it’s you who wants to play the sport, not someone who wants you to play.
