“Terrified. Keep your cool. Take the dive.”
For senior Laura Fulton, diving is much more than a hobby. It’s a big part of her future.
“I got into diving because I’ve just grown up by the pool. My sister was a diver, I think she’s my biggest influence,” explains Fulton.
On Nov. 18, Fulton signed with Delta State University. She intends to study dietetics and will be diving for its team.
“I’m very excited for her, I helped her decide what was good about the school,” coach Anna LeBlanc said. “Their swimming facility is awesome.”
Like Fulton will, LeBlanc attended Delta State from 2003-2007.
“The coach there was amazing, and I loved the Southern hospitality,” said LeBlanc.
Last year, Fulton qualified for state. Her chance to return starts today as the girls swim team begins practice.
Fulton competed at the highest level of Missouri high school sports, but said she hopes to make it to nationals during her time at Delta State.
