The Pirates dropped a game against Eureka 4-1 on Oct. 28.

As goalie for the Pattonville varsity soccer team, Andrew Morlen said, “We were just unlucky when it came to scoring because we hit the crossbar a couple times.”

Even though Pattonville lost, they played a great game against one of the best teams in the league.

“My coach said even though we lost, we played the game like the score was 1-1,” Morlen said.

Along with the soccer game, it was also Parent Night and everyone brought a flower and a certificate for their parents. Even though the team played a great game but lost, they still celebrated the night with their families.

The Pattonville varsity team is now 6-16-1 this year for soccer, but they play every game with great enthusiasm.

Their record is not as positive as they would like but it’s because a lot of the shots don’t go in because “many of the players hit the crossbar with their hard and accurate shots,” Morlen said.

Along with unlucky shots, there have been some injuries on the team such as a broken arm that Morlen suffered.

“Even though I had a broken arm, I still went and supported my team because even though I’m hurt, I still help and support my team.”
