Five study tips for finals

TestWith finals just around the corner, many students are studying as much as they can, with hopes of passing their finals as well as their classes. Here are 5 study tips that have really helped people:

  1. Flashcards. Even if you think they won’t work, try.  If it’s vocabulary, put the word on one side and the definition on the other side.
  2. Have someone quiz you. Make a list of questions for somebody to ask you, or even make a quiz to quiz yourself.
  3. Listen to music. Scientists say if you listen to music, then you’ll remember easier, plus you can use it to help block out any distractions.
  4. Chew gum. Scientists also say if you chew gum when you study, you retain the information easier.
  5. Alternate your study place. Alternating your study space helps keep you from feeling isolated or stuck.

These are just suggestions, you don’t have to try them if you don’t want to, but if you want to try, have at it.

One more tip is take breaks!  Don’t try and do all of your studying all at once because it can cause you to get overwhelmed.
