Triple A to maintain its core values with new executive members
Triple A will have its first meeting of the year on Aug. 28, taking place in room H215 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
August 28, 2017
The African American Achievers Society is not a new club. What is new, however, are those now holding officer positions now that its class of 2017 leaders have graduated.
With its first meeting of the year on Aug. 28 after school in H215, junior Terrell Henderson as president, senior Bria Griffith as vice president, junior Aric Hamilton as historian, senior Yohanes Mulat as treasurer, and senior Jazmin Kelley as secretary will be leading the club.
Henderson said the main goal of Triple A is still the same.
“We still want to promote and encourage black students to strive academically while having a family-feeling at school, and having them feel included.”
Past executive members stressed the importance of reaching out to underclassmen so that the club’s legacy will be continued in the future as well.
“Another thing that’s important is communication between executive members and club members,” Henderson said. “Without communication, people aren’t going to know what’s planned.”
Throughout the school year, the African American Achievers Society will be hosting events such as a town hall meeting with a panel discussion, tutoring sessions, a “Finals Frenzy” to help all students prepare for exams, and their annual black history program.
Officers plan to reach out with other clubs such as the International Club to organize joint meetings and promote collaboration.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of this organization can attend the first meeting of the year on Aug. 28, taking place in room H215 from 2:30 to 4:00.
