Despite taking place in March, the Valentine’s Brunch hosted by National Honor Society was a success. Originally scheduled for Feb. 1, it was cancelled because “the weather was terrible,” said NHS officer Megan Mellring.
Senior citizens from the Pattonville community were able to enjoy food donated by NHS members, listen to a performance from the chamber choir, and have a chance to win many prizes in a raffle. Raffle prizes were donated by businesses in the St. Louis area and included gift cards to popular restaurants such as Bristol Seafood Grill, Granite City Food and Brewery, Jilly’s Cupcake Bar, and many more. The top prize raffled off this year was tickets to a Cardinals baseball game.
Mellring said, “The money raised will go towards the NHS senior scholarship fund, which is awarded to seniors at the end of the year.”
In addition to benefitting NHS, the Valentine’s Brunch “brings the community together and allows NHS members to work together to make this brunch possible,” Mellring stated.
