Students were stressing, teachers were complaining and the entire room had a feeling of tension. That was what the iLearn Center felt like this morning after the school changed its WiFi network on school computers.
The WiFi was officially changed today at the high school. bootstrap will no longer be in service, and instead the school will now use highschool as the official WiFi network.
“We had to switch because so many students were slowing down the speed of the WiFi,” said senior and iLearn specialist Mark Raymond. “Too many students had connected their mobile devices to bootstrap.”
Mobile devices were being connected to bootstrap because the password was found out and more devices than expected were connected to the network.
It was an interesting decision to change the WiFi on a Friday morning, when possible technical difficulties might force some teachers to change their lesson plans if they were not connected to the Internet.
“I didn’t get a say in when we were going to switch,” Raymond said. “I thought it would have been better for us to do it tonight or Thursday night.”
This change is intended to allow for faster Internet speeds on school laptops.
