“I love working with the students at Pattonville.”
One of the new “teachers” this year is athletic trainer Ms. Samantha Keeler.
Keeler formally joins the high school staff and is usually found at sports practices and games for every level of competition at Pattonville High School. She works specifically with injured athletes on and off the field.
Due to her desire to work in the medical field, Keeler went to school to get her bachelors of science in athletic training.
“I wanted to be in a setting where I would never have the same day twice.”
She loves her job, even if it means having to wrap the wrists of every single football player before a game, bandaging arms and legs of an athlete because of an accident, or having to call parents and doctors because of an injury.
“The best part about my job is knowing that students get to participate and be as safe and healthy as possible.”
Keeler also meets with students who work with her as Athletic Training Student Assistants to teach them skills and techniques about working with injured athletes.
“The students at Pattonville are very hard workers, they always make me laugh, and they’re very respectful,” Keeler said. “I’ve worked at many schools, and I’ve had the most fun here.”
