The curtain is going up on this year’s fall play performed by the Pattonville Theatre Department and running from Oct. 15-17.

Every year, the Pattonville Theatre Department puts on a three-night show for the school and the community. This year, the play is called “The Family Man” and it’s a comedy by Benjamin Bernard Zavin and Carl Leo.

“We’ve spent roughly 169 hours to put on the show as a whole,” cast member Emily Tobar said. “Preparation includes character research and exercises, fun runs (where you have no script and you just go with it) and a ton of line memorization.”

Preparing for this performance is a very rigorous and very thought-out process and it takes a lot of practice to make it perfect.

“The hardest part of practice is when people are still on script and very little character development happens,” Tobar said.

Although, the process may seem difficult and stressful, it all comes together in the end and the performance works out just as planned.

“I love it and the experiences I have,” Tobar said. “I think it’s a great way of forming teamwork and leadership skills and obviously public speaking. Some of the best and most interesting people I know have had theatre experiences.”

The performances will be held on Oct. 15-17 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets will be on sale for $6 for adults and $4 for Pattonville students.
