Mr. DECA Azim Djuraev was crowned the 2016 Mr. PHS winner on Friday, Feb. 19, beating out 20 other contestants for the title.
After the modeling portion, all of the men vying for the win demonstrated a talent. Djuraev impressed the judges with his lip-synch of Breaking Free from High School Musical. He was joined onstage with ‘co-singer’ Mohamed Hassan and ‘piano player’ Micah Evans.
The contest was narrowed down to five finalist after the interview portion. Djuraev advanced to the Final Interview along with Mr. Orchestra Reginald Ewing II, Mr. Cross Country Micah Thompkins, Mr. Swimming Xan Adams and Mr. Debate Mitchell Stringer.
Djuraev’s final answer earned him the victory and crown.
Mr. PHS was hosted by students Kalekidan Yeshiwas and Mohamed Hassan. The judges were teachers Ms. Jessica Dalton, Ms. Jacki Gittemeier and Ms. Beth Moritz.
Following the Male Beauty Pageant organized by National Honor Society, Student Council sponsored a Blacklight Dance.
