Elections for Student Council officers take place next week and two members are vying to be elected as president. Juniors Jacob Reese and Nathan McClain have been campaigning all this week and believe they are the best candidates for the position.
“I’d be the best because I have experience planning STUCO events,” McClain said. “I also have been to every leadership event the past two years.”
On the other hand, Reese believes his strong ideas and his people skills help him in his reasoning for why he should be president.
“I feel like I bring a lot to the table and have some really good ideas,” Reese said. “I know how to work well with others to accomplish things.”
In order to run for president, each candidate must complete a few requirements.
“You have to fill out an application and write a platform statement about why you think you would be good for it,” Reese said. “You also have to make a short video to go along with it.”
Videos are currently available to watch on the Moodle.
Other requirements to run include the basic things such as being involved and attending STUCO events.
“I believe I am better suited for the position than my opponent because he hasn’t had the leadership positions I have had,” McClain said.
Both candidates have reasons as to why they are better when put head-to-head with their opponent.
“I am better because I have good characteristic and I’m a people person,” Reese said.
Voting takes place March 1-3 on the Moodle.
