The Top 10 seniors of the 2016 graduating class were honored for their high GPAs and involvement inside and outside of the classroom during the spring assembly on May 12.
Their GPAs ranged from a 4.4 to a 4.75 and their favorite classes included AP Chemistry, Freshman PE, AP Language and Composition, Honors Algebra II, Calculus, AP Psychology, AP European History, Honors English 3, and College Credit Forensics.
Outside the classroom, some of the seniors are involved in clubs such as National Honor Society, Orchestra, Mock Trial and Debate, DECA, STUCO, Spanish National Honor Society, Renaissance, GALXC, Drill Team, Football, Soccer, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, FBLA, Yearbook, Marching Band and Tennis.
1. Natalie Siegel, University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She is pre-med and planning to major in biochemistry.
2. Azim Djuraev, Columbia University. He intends to major in financial engineering.
3. Morgan Garner, Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He plans to double major in law, politics, and society and rhetoric, media, and social change, and will also be a member of the Division I rowing team.
4. Gayathri Srinivasan, University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has been admitted to the 6-year medical school program.
5. Kristin Barringhaus, Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She will major in engineering.
6. Samantha Wright, Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She will be majoring in psychology with an emphasis in criminal justice, minoring in Spanish, and playing Division III lacrosse.
7. Megan Tyahla, Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. She will double major in biology and forensics.
8. Amy Azwell, Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi. Her plans are to major in vocal music education and pursue music therapy.
9. Madelyn Hunsaker, Saint Louis University. She is admitted to the Medical Scholars Program and plans to major in Investigative Medical Science with a minor in biology.
10. Megan McGinty, Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. She plans to major in psychology and is admitted to the Interdisciplinary Honors Program.
