Blues, Sharks face off in the first round
April 12, 2012
The St. Louis Blues go into the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference after losing four of their last five regular season games.
Although the Blues ended the regular season struggling, they are facing an opponent in the San Jose Sharks that they know very well.
The Blues dominated the Sharks this season as they went 4-0-0 against them, shutting them out twice and allowing only three goals in four games.
It makes complete sense that the Blues would hold the Sharks to only three goals due to the fact that the Blues lead the league with only 165 goals allowed and had the league leader in Goals Against Average, Brian Elliot, in net for two of those games this season.
The Blues also have two players that could play a bigger role in the playoffs than many think. Jason Arnott and Jamie Langenbrunner have each won at least one Stanley Cup. That experience could provide a voice to get through the tough games and keep this young team going.
The world will see who shows up to play on Thursday, April 12 for Game 1 of this seven game series. Will Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliot continue their amazing performance, or will the Sharks’ well-seasoned top line break through the wall that is the Blues goalies?
