Meet new teacher: Ms. Katherine Kessler
Freshmen aren’t the only new faces around Pattonville High School this year. Katherine Kessler is a new staff member and is teaching science in room F104.
“I chose to become a science teacher because I always had an interest in this subject.”
But she also had interests in other areas.
“I wanted to teach art and social studies and different grade levels. I liked it all,” she said. “The reason it won out over other content areas is because there is always going to be a demand for science teachers over other areas that I liked.”
She also wanted to be able to do something different when she got home.
“If I picked art, it would be a job rather than a hobby. I still get to enjoy it.”
She is excited to join the science department staff because of the reputation of the school district.
“I chose to work at Pattonville because I heard how great of a school it is from teachers and how much they love it and because Pattonville is updated on technology and the theories of practice in education.”
She’s always considered herself some kind of teacher.
“I had always been a teacher in some aspects up until college,” she said. “I taught sports like figure skating and gymnastics; it was a second nature to me to teach. I played school as a kid, but to me, it felt natural.”
