Members of the Pattonville Marching Band opened their competitive season at Farmington High School on Sept. 16. Placing third overall, the band learned a lot in its first of four competitions of the year.

Competing in the AAA Division which is reserved for the largest bands in the region, Pattonville finished in third place out of five bands. Overall, 17 bands performed and the Pride of Pattonville placed third.

According to Joey Noble, this is one of the best starts the marching band has had in years.

The Pride of Pattonville scored a 71.43 out of 100 for their performance.

According to Jonah Dalton, the band lost points for their visuals and their foot positioning.

In order to improve its score, the marching band is currently adding more visuals which are additions to the show that take place when members stand in one spot for a period of time.

After this start, the band is ready to take on the Fox High School competition on Sept. 30.

The band will finish their season with competitions at Collinsville High School on Oct. 7 and SIU-Carbondale on Oct. 21.
