SLIDESHOW High school NHS sponsors Blood Drive on Oct. 27
November 1, 2017
The high school National Honor Society hosted a blood drive with the help of the American Red Cross on Friday, Oct. 27, at the high school. Students that were 16 years old or older were given the opportunity to donate blood.
Upon arrival, each donor will begin at the registration table at the time they have signed up for. Once they have been put into the system as present, everyone sits and reads a packet provided by the American Red Cross regarding why one would not qualify to donate and what happens once the donation is complete. After reading the packet, each person is asked a few questions about their health history, as well as any travel history. A staff member will check their iron levels and ensure that everyone meets the height and weight requirements. It only takes about 10 minutes for the pint bag to fill up and then it's all over. To ensure nothing happens immediately after giving blood, refreshments and snacks are provided for the donors.
