Niya Danfort has played in one game so far during her junior season and hopes to get the chance to play in another soon.

“It’s kinda hard to play with being injured but I’m going to try and continue,” Danfort said. “This is a minor injury that I am definitely going to come back from.”

The junior was hurt in a game early this season.

“I got injured by doing a lay-up twice,” she said. 

This isn’t the first time she’s had to sit out of games while playing basketball for Pattonville. Last year she played in about 14 games before getting injured.

When she’s on the court, Danfort is a point guard.

“Mainly,” she added. “But sometimes I am a shooting guard as well.”

Basketball is a part of her life and it makes her who she is. She loves the game and is determined to play again.

“I’m going to continue to play,” she said, “and I’m looking forward to my senior year.”
