Ms. Beth Kathriner accepts the Pirate Pete trophy.

Art teacher Ms. Beth Kathriner is the first teacher of the new year to win the Pirate Code Staff Member of the Week award.

“I am happy to win this prestigious award,” she said. “I hardly ever win anything so that was an especially sweet surprise on a cold morning.”

The winning Pirate Code ticket that she gave was to Grace Skelton.

“If I recall correctly, I gave Grace a Pirate Code ticket last semester because she voluntarily helped another student get started planning a project while I was out of class and had a substitute teacher,” Kathriner said. “I really appreciated her jumping in when this student needed some clarification and a friend to help her organize her thoughts.”

Every week, a different Pirate Code Teacher of the Week will be selected from Pirate Code tickets that students have turned in.

Remember the Pirate Code. Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Involved.
