Pattonville wrestling picked up a pair of dual-meet wins on a trip out to Ritenour on Wednesday night.

The Pirates were able to escape with a 42-39 win against Webster Groves in the end with a “clutch pin” by senior Brock Beins.

“It was a close meet, but we ended up pulling out the win in the end with one of our wrestlers getting a clutch pin securing the W for us,” junior Devon Santacruz said.

The Pirates also earned a 48-35 victory against Ritenour.

Santacruz said he won one of his two matches on the night.

“The first one I lost, but I got the pin in the second match which definitely helped out with getting our team closer to the win.”

The last wrestling meet of the 2017-18 regular season is at Rockwood Summit on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m. The state tournament schedule will be announced later.
