Kendall Battle talks to the rest of the team in a huddle before the game on April 20.

Kendall Battle has been on the varsity soccer team since her freshman year and is leading a team that has been constantly ranked in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Large Schools Top 10 rankings since Week 2 of the season.

She says her love for the game began when she was just 6 years old and in kindergarten. She knew from that day on that she had the love for this sport.

One of the reasons Battle said she likes playing soccer is because it lets her get her aggression out on the field. Also, she enjoys being a part of a team and getting to know the different girls and building different bonds with them.

She said the Varsity team (12-2) is doing amazing this year and that they are currently playing in the Peyton’s Pals Tourney which is being hosted by Pattonville. In the first game, the Pirates beat Rosati Kain scoring four goals in the second half and finishing with a 4-0 win.

“We’re doing so well as a whole and we had a good win against Ritenour,” Battle said. “We’re working together well on and off the field.”

She explains how the team chemistry is helping the team’s success.

“This year we’ve all been closer than previous years due to so many new freshmen on the team so it’s forced all of us to come together,” Battle said. “There were a lot of talented freshmen this year and six girls got moved up to varsity.”

She enjoys being a part of the varsity team.

“The reason why I love playing on PVS is because my teammates make it fun to play and because we’re all like a little family.”

The girls soccer team next plays Liberty in the Peyton Pal’s Tourney on April 24 at 4:30 p.m.
