Junior Courtney Faasen has success with the ACT

Junior Courtney Faasen is constantly preparing for her bright future ahead.

On her first try of taking the ACT, she got a 34. As students prepare for the end of the school year and the next round of ACTs, Faasen has some advice to help out her fellow classmates.

“I originally got a 34, but went down to a 33 on my second attempt which didn’t really bother me because the school paid for it.”

She stressed that she really focused on the subject that she was the most weak in which is science.

“I talked to my science teacher and she put some resources on the Moodle and I did some practice ACT problems.”

After being so successful on the ACT test, Faasen feels more capable of getting into college.

“I’m definitely looking at Truman, University of Connecticut, and Yale.”

Faasen admits the ACT is not that important her.

“When I do well, of course I love it, but a standardized test doesn’t define me as a student.”

She took the test with the writing option the first time she took the test, and on the second attempt, she took it without the writing portion.

“I wanted to take it a second time because my teachers said that I should take it at least three times.”

If there is one piece of advice Faasen has for her classmates it’s “pay attention in your regular classes. I thought it was just a skill, and it is, but there will be those concepts that are on the ACT in your classes daily.”
