The Lindbergh Flyers started their very first female’s lacrosse team this year. Although the school has had a male program for years, girl’s lacrosse was just recently introduced at Lindbergh. Having only played a few games during the season, they faced a lot of tough opponents. On May 8, the Pattonville Pirates took on the Flyers on their grass field at 4:15 and defeated them 13-2. This was the last away game of the regular season for the Pirates, and senior Kortney Fauntleroy reflects on the outcome of the season.

“I am very proud of these ladies and of myself, personally. We all pushed ourselves to become better players and I can see us traveling far in the state tournament,” Fauntleroy said. She signed with Lindenwood Belleville, an NAIA lacrosse team, on May 9.

In the Lindbergh game, the final score was 13-2 and junior Leslie Azwell led all scores with 4 goals. Other scorers included Bianca Johnson (2), Victoria Lofland (2), Abby Surlet (1), Taylor Wooten (1), Sarah Johnson (1), Helen Nelson (1), and Kacie Baniak (1).

Goalie Alexandria Taylor had a shutout half and a perfect save percentage. Other defensive highlight stats were Victoria Lofland who had an amazing 3 ground balls.

Pattonville is now 14-4 on the season with an 8-game winning streak.

They are set to play their Senior Night game at home against Wentzville Holt on May 9th at 4:15 p.m.
